Jim Cunningham Meets Royal Mail To Discuss Relocation
Today, Jim Cunningham MP (Coventry South) met with three directors of Royal Mail to discuss the future of Bishop Street Sorting Office*. Jim Cunningham discussed with them the possibility of relocating the sorting office to another location within Coventry.
Jim Cunningham said “They have agreed to look at any alternative sites proposed by the Communication Workers Union and Coventry City Council.
“Today I proposed a possible site at Antsy, on the outskirts of Coventry”.
The representatives of Royal Mail have promised Mr Cunningham that they will seriously consider the site proposed by Mr Cunningham and will get back to him within one month.
At the meeting Mr Cunningham discussed with Royal Mail the effects of relocation, including the effects of the quality of service, future of the employees at the sorting office and the relationship between the Trade Union and Royal Mail.
Mr Cunningham continued “I see this as a step in the right direction but there still is a long way to go.
“However I do feel heartened by the progress I have made with Royal Mail during the meeting today”.
