Coventry South MP Tables Peugeot Early Day Motion

Jim Cunningham MP for Coventry South has tabled an Early Day Motion in the House of Commons on the issue of Peugeot. Over 110 MP’s have already signed the Early Day Motion.

The Early Day Motion expresses deeply alarm regarding the closure of Peugeot’s Ryton plant, with the loss of 2,300 jobs.

It also welcomes the survival plan, put forward by the Transport and General Workers’ Union and the Amicus trade union which would both save costs and ensure the survival of the plant, by calling on the Peugeot management to engage in constructive dialogue with the trade unions and further calls on the Government to facilitate such dialogue in every possible way.

“This Early Day Motion hopes to draw attention to the situation surrounding Peugeot and its suppliers, and to highlight the fact that continued efforts must be made to facilitate a solution is reached that will be satisfactory to all sides.”
