Coventry South MP Investigates Recent Increase in Walsgrave Parking Charges.
Jim Cunningham MP for Coventry South, as recently had communication with David Roberts, Chief Executive of Walsgrave Trust Hospital regarding, the issue of car parking charges at the Hospital. Further to numerous constituent concerns surrounding the increase in car parking charges at the hospital, Mr. Cunningham wrote to Mr. Roberts for clarification on the reasoning behind the increase.
Mr. Roberts stated in his letter dated 1 March 2006, “As you are aware care parking charges is a very emotive subject and no one wants to put up charges let alone have to charge in the first place. We have frozen car parking charges for the last two years, because we are acutely aware of the lack of parking spaces available at peak times on the Walsgrave site. In the last two years the Trust has also provided an additional 750 car parking spaces at Walsgrave Hospital and as a result running costs for the car parks is now exceeding the annual income.”
“The Secretary of State said yesterday, that she would be investigating car park charges at a number of Trusts up and down the country, and I await the results of her investigations.”
