COVENTRY MP CONGRATULATES CREATIVE CITY YOUNGSTERS
Jim Cunningham MP will honour the next generation of Coventry publishers at a ceremony in the city on Friday (February 16).
The Coventry South MP is among the guests at the Make Your Mark in Publishing awards at the Ricoh Arena between noon-3pm.
The celebration marks the finale of a five-day enterprise course, jointly organised by Coventry City Council and the CCFC PfS Partnership Centre.
Students taking part in the challenge form a business, then design and produce a magazine with a £50 budget.
Challenges faced along the way include marketing, sales, financial planning, selling of advertising, production and legal issues.
Students will make presentations and have their magazines go on sale, with the winning team awarded £1,000 in vouchers and trophies donated by Arena Coventry.
Mr Cunningham said: “The students taking part in this project have shown fantastic levels of creativity, imagination and professionalism and can be extremely proud of what they have achieved.
“This process will have given the youngsters a great insight into just how much time and effort is needed to produce a top class publication.
“This project is extremely worthwhile and I hope it has inspired those taking part to go on to achieve bigger and better things in the years to come.”
