Coventry South MP Jim Cunningham has written to the Post Office telling him of his concern about plans to close a branch office in the Whitley area.

Mr Cunningham is worried about proposals to close Whitley post office in Riverside Walk.

He said: "I am advising constituents, especially those who use the post office in Whitley, to make their views known.

"While the consultation paper points to alternative post office outlets in the area I do not feel that sufficient attention is being paid to what this closure would mean for the local community, in particular the elderly and people with young families.

"In any event the alternatives to the Whitley post office involve my constituents incurring extra cost and time. I have written to the National Consultation Team at the Post Office asking them to address my concerns."
