James Cunningham
PROTECT JAGUAR AND LAND ROVER JOBS, SAYS MP JIM.
JIM Cunningham MP is leading calls expressing concern at the prospect of the sale of Jaguar and Land Rover by the Ford motor company.
The Coventry South MP has tabled a Commons motion – already signed by 60 MPs – calling for the jobs of the 20,000 people employed to be secured.
Jim said today: “There is a great deal of concern about Ford possibly selling Jaguar and Land Rover particularly about the long term prospects.
“Jaguar and Land Rover are iconic brands and are among the most illustrious names in the history of the British automotive industry.
“At this stage nothing is set in stone as to what will be happening with Jaguar and Land Rover and we are waiting for conformation of Ford’s plans.
“But it is important to get on the record our hope that the jobs of the 20,000 people employed by Jaguar and Land Rover can be secured.
“It is important the Government does everything possible to ensure a positive outcome not just for the two firms but also their employees, and I am pleased 59 of my colleagues have supported my motion.”
