Local MP meets Police Chief over policing in Mexborough
This week Mexborough MP Jeff Ennis met up with District Commander Graham Cassidy and other senior police officers at Doncaster Police HQ in Scawsby to discuss current policing arrangements in Mexborough. Jeff was accompanied to the meeting by Mexborough Community representatives Tracey Leyland and Paula Walford.
Tracey Leyland said," We would like to thank our MP Jeff Ennis for setting up this important meeting so that we could get across some of the Mexborough people's main concerns about the current policing arrangements in the town."
Paula Walford added," Mexborough people are particularly concerned about police attendance in Mexborough late at night after 11 pm. Commander Cassidy gave us his assurance that this and other policing arrangements for Mexborough will be reviewed."
During the course of the meeting Comm. Cassidy admitted that Mexboro is categorised as a high crime area but in fact crime has fallen in the town in each of the last 7 months.
Jeff Ennis MP said, " Iam delighted with the very positive response that we received from Comm. Cassidy. Let's hope that the people in Mexborough will shortly see an improved police presence in the town."
