Aberavon MP, Dr Hywel Francis, has visited Glan Afan Comprehensive School to congratulate two of its pupils on their outstanding achievements.
Joseph Devries, a Year 9 pupil at the School, has won first prize in a national competition organised by BT in recognition of his tremendous contribution to his community in helping to organise ‘silver surfer’ sessions at the School. Joseph and a number of his fellow pupils dedicate an hour every Thursday to pass on their internet skills to senior citizens in the local community, as well as providing refreshments.
Dr Francis also congratulated Year 10 pupil, Sadie Jarrett, who won first prize in a creative writing competition with the theme of celebrating cultural diversity in the UK.
Dr Francis said,
“I am delighted to congratulate Joseph and Sadie on their excellent achievements. They are a credit to their school and thoroughly deserve the recognition they have achieved through these awards.”
