Aberavon MP, Dr Hywel Francis, officially received a petition of over 6000 signatures last Saturday at Port Talbot Civic Centre. The petition opposes the development of a biomass power station at Port Talbot Docks.
Dr Francis said,
“I was very impressed with the hundreds of people who came to the march to present the petition which raises legitimate concerns over health and safety.”
Dr Francis added,
“I believe the broad public support for the petition, including political parties, churches, WI and many community organisations indicates the strength of feeling locally. I also believe that the campaigning has strengthened local democracy.
