Gareth Thomas
Harrow MP revealed as one of the most active in the House of Commons
Gareth Thomas MP has been revealed as one of the busiest MPs in the House of Commons since the 2001 General Election, making 58 speeches, asking 343 questions and voting in over three quarters of all divisions in the House of Commons.
The information published by the House of Commons Library shows that only 3 Labour backbench MPs including the ‘Father of the House’ Tam Dalyell MP made more speeches.
Gareth has raised a wide range of issues relating to Harrow including successfully asking for £15 million of new investment in maternity services at Northwick Park Hospital, or the difficulties caused by Transport for London not giving Harrow Council enough money to spend on local transport projects such as closing the Rowlands Avenue / Oxley Lane junction, through to issues affecting the Co-op movement and renewable energy.
Gareth said:
“I have always thought it important to question ministers about the impact of their policies on Harrow and to champion issues of importance to local people, such as securing new investment at Northwick Park. I will continue to put Harrow first whilst taking up other issues such as the need to promote renewable energy or to secure reform in the health service.”
