Falkirk West MP, Eric Joyce, has called on his constituents to get involved in a new campaign to rid local communities of drugs and drug dealers.
The ‘Dealers Don’t Care, Do You?’ campaign launched yesterday by First Minister, Jack McConnell, is funded by money seized from criminals under the Westminster legislation The Proceeds of Crime Act and aims to encourage local people to get involved in ridding their communities of drug dealers by speaking out or anonymously reporting dealers or suspicious activity.
Speaking today, Eric Joyce MP said
‘Its important that people living in communities blighted by drugs and drug dealers know that their Government and their political representatives are on their side when it comes to taking action to rid their community of this scourge.
It is also important that local people themselves are willing to get involved by speaking out or anonymously reporting dealers or suspicious activity. Community intelligence is vital to the success of police efforts against drug dealers.
I’d like to encourage all of my constituents to get involved with this new initiative and call Crimestoppers Scotland on 0800 555 111 if they have any information that they think will help disrupt the flow of drugs in Falkirk and save lives locally.’
