Falkirk West MP Slams Bogus SNP Claims Of Doom And Gloom On Job Count
Eric Joyce, MP for Falkirk West, has slammed bogus claims by SNP Central Scotland List MSP, Alex Neil of a ‘depressing’ rise in the number of job seekers throughout the Central Scotland area.
Speaking today, Eric Joyce MP said
‘The figures clearly show a general downward trend in unemployment, not only here in my Falkirk West constituency, but throughout the Falkirk Council area and the whole of theCentral Scotland Region.
Figures for Sept to Dec 2002 show a steady decline in the number of people unemployed, from 1,637 to 1,544 in Falkirk West, a fall of almost 5.7% and from 15,688 to 14,992, a 4.4% fall, throughout Central Scotland region.
The general trend of falling unemployment is starkest when you look at the figures from Dec 1998 and realise that since then overall unemployment in Falkirk West has plummeted from 2,068 to 1,544, a 25.3% drop and throughout Central Scotland from 20,124 to 14,992, a dramatic cut of 25.5%.
Selective Number Production is what the SNP are all about and I am sure that the people of Falkirk West and Central Scotland will not be fooled by their bogus claims.’
