Falkirk West MP Calls On Veterans To Claim Costs Of Commemorative Visits From ‘Heroes Return Fund’

Falkirk West MP, Eric Joyce, is today calling on all Falkirk veterans of the Second World War to apply for funding from the newly established Heroes Return Fund to help meet the costs of 60th anniversary commemorative visits and trips.

The fund, which was launched on 9th February this year as part of the Veterans Reunited Programme, will provide £10 million of Lottery funding through the New Opportunities Fund for veterans resident in the UK to travel to the countries in which they served in the Second World War.

Speaking today, Eric Joyce MP said

‘I’m sure there are many veterans in the area planning to make return trips to commemorate the 60th anniversary of various campaigns undertaken by our military services towards the end of the Second World War and I’m delighted that the Government has set aside £10 million in the Heroes Return Fund to help cover their costs.

I would encourage all veterans planning a commemorative trip to contact the Veterans Agency hotline for an application form as soon as possible.’
