Local MP promotes Traidcraft Week in his local community
Edward Davey, Liberal Democrat MP for Kingston and Surbiton announced his support for the work of Traidcraft, praising the organisation for
the service it provides to the developing world.
Through lobbying and advocacy work, Traidcraft promotes ethical business practices, seeking to benefit poor producers from trade. Traidcraft Week celebrates the work of the charity and draws attention to its work.
Edward Davey MP commented,
"Traidcraft offers 'third world' producers the opportunity to learn how to sell to overseas markets as well as locally.
"By supporting Traidcraft's work we are helping to create opportunities for producers in the developing world, offering them a brighter future and protecting them from a world of exploitation and inequality.
Edward Davey MP encourages people to support this organisation in several ways
"Traidcraft's development work is mainly funded by events such as coffee mornings and open days. Therefore the more volunteers, the bigger the difference Traidcraft will be able to make to people's lives. People can also support Traidcraft, by sending in a donation, buying fair trade products or even taking part in a Traidcraft active event and becoming a shareholder".
