MP welcomes bus battle victory
Edward Davey, Liberal Democrat MP for Kingston and Surbiton, has welcomed the announcement by Transport for London that the 467 bus route is not to be axed.
The 'strong response' TfL received from local constituents persuaded them to save the 467 bus route, which runs between Chessington and Epsom. This overturns a decision by London Mayor Ken Livingstone that earmarked the daytime service for scrapping.
Edward Davey said,
"This is excellent news. After 2 successful campaigns to stop cuts to this vital service, let's hope Transport for London understand its importance and leave it alone.
"It is testament to the excellent work of all the local councillors and particularly Patricia Bamford. With her help, Liberal Democrats collected over 1,600 signatures and showed TfL just how much this bus service meant to local people."
