"Kingston Station on fast track to safety" - Davey
Edward Davey, Liberal Democrat MP for Kingston and Surbiton, applauded Kingston Station for being re-accredited under the Secure Station Scheme.
Kingston rail station has been re-accredited under the secure stations scheme, having retained the stipulated national standards in station, passenger and staff security.
The national secure stations scheme covers all rail and underground networks, which are policed by the British Transport Police (BTP). It has established standards of good practice and accredits individual stations that have worked with the BTP and other local partners to implement security measures. Stations remain accredited for two years, after which a further application is made for re-accreditation.
Edward Davey said,
"It is great to know that rail operators in Kingston are working towards a safer environment for the community"
"While this news is good, there is a lot more that is needed to be done to make both our rail stations and journeys safe"
"I am delighted to hear that Kingston rail station has been re-accredited under the secure stations scheme. It is clear that they have been hugely successful in working towards making the station safer for the community. I hope they will continue to make more improvements to make train travel even safer."
