DOUG NAYSMITH, MP for Bristol North West, went to Glenfrome Primary School, Lockleaze, to thank the children for entering his annual Christmas Card competition, and to give prizes to the winners.

Dr Naysmith had asked the children to design a Christmas card for him and over fifty children sent him their drawings and paintings.  He said, “We always enjoy choosing the winning design, but it is hard.  There was a lot of discussion in my office before I chose the one I wanted to send to my friends and colleagues and we ended up covered in glitter. There were so many attractive pictures and it was clear that a lot of work and thought had gone into them.  In the end, I chose three runners-up from each age group in Key Stage Two, as well as the over all winner.”

The winner was Alex Wookey, who is in Year 5.  Doug said, “Alex didn’t just draw a picture, she made a collage using material, glitter and stickers.    I shall be proud to send it out and I hope she will enjoy sending it to her friends too.”
