Keep breast cancer care in Brighton and Hove
I am supporting the campaign by the Friends of the Nigel Porter Unit and others to keep the unit and its breast cancer services in Brighton and Hove. With Des Turner (MP for Kemp Town) and Ivor Caplin (MP for Hove) I have gone with representatives of campaign to make our case to Health Minister Hazel Blears MP and Des, Ivor and I have also met with Secretary of State for Health Alan Milburn MP and the Chief Executives of the Brighton Health Care NHS Trust and the Primary Care Trust on this important issue.
We welcome the backing of Brighton and Hove Council and the Health Authority for proposals for a breast care unit at Rozas House close to the Royal Sussex County Hospital.
I was pleased to be asked to be one of the patrons of the Pink Dolphin Appeal to support the centre.
