MPs reject latest attempt to develop Redhill Aerodrome site
Peter Ainsworth, MP for East Surrey, and Crispin Blunt, MP for Reigate, have today declined an invitation to take part in a workshop to consider the design of a new village to be built on the site of Redhill Aerodrome. A copy of the invitation and their reply is attached. Crispin Blunt commented:
“This is but the latest proposal from the owners of Redhill Aerodrome Ventures Limited which seeks to provide them with a substantial speculative gain from their investment in the aerodrome. We believe that this consultation exercise is essentially bogus and designed to imply some form of co-operation from those who take part in this scheme.
“For the avoidance of doubt: we believe such a development of the aerodrome site would be a fundamental breach of greenbelt policy as well as being yet more development on a local infrastructure that is already overloaded.”
