Charles Kennedy Appoints New Political Speechwriter & Head Of Research
From 3rd January 2006, Mike Finn will become political speechwriter and Head of Research to Charles Kennedy in the Lib Dem Leader’s Office. Mike will replace current Head of Research Greg Simpson who will take on the role of Head of Policy and Research for the Liberal Democrats.
Mike Finn comes from a distinguished academic background. A former Kennedy Scholar at Harvard and Research Fellow at Lady Margaret Hall, Oxford, Mike’s research has often been published in national daily newspapers and academic journals. He has also served a stint as a regional journalist in his native Liverpool.
Mr Kennedy said:
‘Greg Simpson has done a superb job, and I wish him the best of luck in his new appointment. We will continue to work closely together as Greg oversees the integration of the Policy and Research units.
‘I am delighted to welcome Mike to the Leader’s office, and his breadth of knowledge will bring a fresh approach to the position. We will work together to ensure that in 2006 and beyond the Liberal Democrats present the real alternative to the government.’
