Kennedy: Government Should Come Before Parliament To Discuss Iraq Exit Strategy
Commenting on Iraqi President Jalal Talibani’s comments that British troops could withdraw from Iraq by the end of 2006, Charles Kennedy said:
“The Prime Minister said on the 8th February 2005 at a Parliamentary Liaison Committee that he would set out plans for the future of British troops in Iraq. We are still waiting for these to be published. The Liberal Democrats have been calling for the British government to come before parliament to discuss the exit strategy for our troops within a proper responsible timetable. In light of these comments, it is now high time they did.”
