Blair's Speech Yet Another Case Of Rhetoric With No Substance
Responding to the Prime Minister's speech to the European Parliament in Strasbourg, Charles Kennedy said:"Tony Blair's speech to the European Parliament was yet another case of rhetoric with no substance, designed to motivate a sceptical audience. The Prime Minister is meant to be leading Europe, but apart from accession issues he has done little to deal with the fundamental problems Europe faces.
"The Prime Minister failed to mention progress on the Common Agricultural Policy. In June he committed his government to tackling EU protectionism, but there has been no progress in achieving reform, which is vital not only for Europe but also for economic growth in the developing world."
