Kennedy On G8: Prime Minister ‘Treading Water’ Over Climate Change
In response to the Prime Minister’s statement on the conclusions of the G8 summit, Charles Kennedy asked the Prime Minister if he would acknowledge, ‘that the agreements at Gleneagles with regards to Climate Change constitute little more than treading water.'
Mr Kennedy also asked the Prime Minster, ‘how far was he able to meet his own three objective tests for the summit- first, an agreement about the basic science, second, agreement on a process to speed up the technology to meet the threat, and third, engagement with other countries with growing energy needs?’
The Prime Minister conceded ‘There has been no agreement as to the science, no agreement that we need to take action to cut greenhouse gases… and no agreement either on the process going forward.’
