The management of paper manufacturers Arjo Wiggins have announced that have entered a 90 day consultation period about the future of the Corpach mill in Fort William which may be threatened with closure.
In response to the announcement Charles Kennedy said: “I have spoken to representatives from Arjo Wiggins who have assured me that they will be using the 90 day consultation period to look at all the options available to staff and management. They also told me that they have met with trade union representatives, the local Council, the Lochaber Enterprise and Job Centre Plus who are fully a part of the dialogue as to the future prospects for the mill. I am in contact with the Lochaber Enterprise and the local Council.
It is vital that we use this period to strive for the best possible outcome for all involved.”
