Parliamentarian takes to the stage at charity show
Sponsored by Carlton Television
Bob Marshall-Andrews QC, MP for Medway, has dazzled friends, family and colleagues with his astounding performance at the Macmillan Cancer Relief Parliamentary Palace of Varieties, sponsored by Carlton Television. The show took place on Thursday 30 January 2003 at St John's Smith Square, London.
Bob performed a comedy sketch based upon the UN's chief weapons inspector Hans Blix searching for weapons of mass destruction in a semi in Edgware, just off the M1.
The fifth annual Parliamentary Variety Show was sponsored for the fourth consecutive year by Carlton Television. It is a highlight of the parliamentary social calendar – giving MPs and Peers the opportunity to tread the boards whilst raising money for Macmillan Cancer Relief.
Bob Marshall-Andrews QC MP comments, “It was a delight to take part in the Parliamentary Palace of Varieties. The event was great fun and gives all of us at the House of Commons and the House of Lords an opportunity to raise vital funds for Macmillan who provide specialist cancer services for people living with cancer.”
Says Eira Jessel, organiser of the event, ‘Parliamentarians never cease to amaze me! Familiar political faces are transformed into musicians, magicians, singers, dancers, actors and raconteurs on the night. With their immense show of talent and support, we raised £70,000 to help Macmillan support the one million people living with cancer in the UK.”
