Medway MP meets local lobbyists from the Trade Justice Movement
Medway's MP Bob Marshall-Andrews was delighted to meet, last Saturday 28th June, a party of constituents who were taking part in a nationwide weekend lobby of MP's on behalf of the Trade Justice Movement.
The Movement is calling on the Government to ensure that international trade rules are weighted in favour of the worlds poor. That is 1) poor countries are not forced to open up their markets, 2) international companies are regulated, 3) rich countries do not intervene in trade against the interests of people and the environment before the profits of companies and 4) trade rules are made in a fair and democratic way.
Mr Marshall-Andrews said, “The Trade Justice Movement continues to receive my full support. I am an active member of GLOBE, the All-Party Parliamentary Group, which is pressuring Government on Globalisation and World Trade issues. I will continue to work with my colleagues in both the House of Commons and the Lords towards that end.”
