Robert Marshall-Andrews
MP takes action on behalf of Fintrade employees
Following sustained pressure by Medway Member of Parliament, Bob Marshall-Andrews QC, which ensured the direct intervention of the Works Minister, Des Browne, benefit and Job Seekers Allowance will now be paid to the workforce laid off by Fintrade. Processing of claims will take place within a matter of days.
Bob Marshall-Andrews said "I am delighted that we have now attained this result for this excellent workforce thrown out of jobs through no fault of their own. The delay which has occurred has been entirely due to the obstruction of the company. Their behaviour has been both callous and wholly unacceptable. Not only have they laid off their workforce without notice or payment, they have failed properly to cooperate with those agencies who can provide some assistance. Fortunately I have been able to intercede through action at a parliamentary level. I understand that staff at the JobCentres will be working over the weekend in order to ensure that these wholly justified claims are processed as soon as possible and I am grateful to them and the JobCentre Managers for their contribution.
I will continue to pursue this company and its Directors to ensure they meet their full liabilities."
