Medway MP welcomes E-on’s proposed postponement
Bob Marshall-Andrews said, “I welcome E.ON’s proposal that the Government’s decision on its Kingsnorth coal-fired power station planning application is not made until later in the year - following the completion of the Government’s consultation into what will be required to make a the plant carbon capture and storage ready.”
“However my main reservations about the proposed new coal-fired power station still remain, i.e.: Environmental - CO2 emissions from the new coal fired plant is only marginally improved on the current one: Political - as China builds a new fossil fuelled station a week the UK should lead by example: and Economic - that the new power station should be capable of providing combined heat & power and have carbon capture & storage.”
