Coventry North East MP, Bob Ainsworth is seeking a meeting with Bill Savage, the boss of Coventry Airport, to discuss his apparent offer to enter into binding agreements on passenger numbers and night noise at Coventry Airport.
Bob Ainsworth said:
“When I met Bill Savage some months ago at Westminster I asked if he was prepared to talk about binding agreements and was very disappointed with his response. If his position has changed, that is worth talking about.
“There are restrictions on other airports that have been effective. For instance there is a legal limit on growth at Gatwick until 2019 and strict flight path controls at Stanstead.
“I have asked to meet Mr Savage to discuss his offer and test how serious he is.
“I will want to talk about growth restrictions, freight night flights, passenger night flights and flight path restrictions”.
