Coventry North East MP, Bob Ainsworth will be meeting with representatives of Azko Nobel again tomorrow at 11:30am.
Concerns continue among residents about the amount of information they are receiving about the contamination that threatens their homes. Azko Nobel have agreed to purchase three contaminated homes with a view to demolition. However, residents are telling Bob Ainsworth that levels of Carbon di Sulphide are being discovered in other properties. They are also saying that there are discrepancies in the levels of contamination recorded by CEL (Azko contractor) and URS (the independent environmental analyst).
Bob Ainsworth said:
“When we last me, the company promised to disclose all of their own findings to URS and the residents. As far as I am aware they have not yet done that.
“They will only get trust if they are seen to be being open about the size and extent of the problem.
“Another issue that is causing concern is that separate private negotiations are being held with those owners where they have agreed to buy the homes. This is causing residents to feel they are not being treated equally.
“Residents feel the company is playing divide and rule. I’m certain they could be more open with the residents if they wished to be”.
