Coventry North East MP, Bob Ainsworth has organised a meeting, to be held on 20th November 2003 at 10am in the Department of Health, between a delegation from the charity Coventry Homes, who care for people with learning disabilities, and Stephen Ladyman MP, Parliamentary Under-secretary of State (Community Care), to discuss issues surrounding a legal battle between Coventry Homes and the National Care Standards Commission (NCSC).
Coventry Homes and the NCSC have been involved in costly legal action over the appropriate registration of the services Coventry Homes provides. Coventry Homes feel they are being forced into a legal definition that will badly damage their ability to continue the good work they do.
After corresponding with both the NCSC and the Department of Health, on behalf of Coventry Homes, Mr Ainsworth arranged the meeting to facilitate an agreeable resolution to this matter.
Bob Ainsworth says “I hope this meeting will facilitate a resolution agreeable to all parties involved. Coventry Homes provides an important service to the people of Coventry and Worcester and during this meeting both sides will be given the opportunity to discuss any outstanding issues, which will hopefully result in a resolution that will safe guard the services provided by Coventry Homes for both current and future users.”
