MP WELCOMES COMMITMENT TO RE-OPEN RAIL LINE, BUT CALLS FOR MEETING TO DISCUSS NEED FOR ARENA RAIL STATION

Coventry North East MP, Bob Ainsworth, has welcomed the Strategic Rail Authority’s (SRA) commitment to re-open the Coventry Nuneaton railway line in June of this year, but is seeking a meeting with the SRA and the City Council to try to hammer out a method of getting a rail station built at the Arena.

Bob said:

“The Council and the SRA have failed to reach any agreement with how to fund a station at the Arena.  However, anyone who looks at the present green travel plan can see the need for a station.  I have asked the SRA to meet with myself and the Council so that we can examine whether there is any way we can get agreement on this.”
