Vale of York
The Vale of York constituency came into existence at the 1997 GeneralElection as a result of boundary changes, and stretches from Spofforth andKirk Deighton in the south to Hackforth and Thornton-le-Beans in the north,taking in the rural communities east of Harrogate and east of Thirsk.

Thegeographic heart of the constituency is Helperby, while the population isbased on the pretty market towns of Bedale, Boroughbridge, Thirsk andEasingwold, as well as the outskirts of York (Haxby Wigginton, Poppleton,Clifton Moor, Rawcliffe, Shipton by Beningbrough, Skelton and New Earswick).The Vale of York includes The White Horse and 'Herriot Country', and has astrong farming community.
