ALAN WHITEHEAD’S 10TH ANNUAL REPORT PUBLISHED

Dr Alan Whitehead, Member of Parliament for Southampton Test, today publishes his 10th Annual Report on his work in Parliament and in Southampton.

This year’s report focuses on Dr Whitehead’s work on the issues important for Southampton, including:

• getting the government to give Southampton greater powers over bus routes and easing congestion in the city;
• working with schools and young people to tackle anti-social behaviour
• securing a national review into the private rented housing sector, to look at how the increase of buy-to-let accommodation is affecting the housing market in Southampton

Since being elected in 1997, Dr Whitehead has published a full breakdown of his Parliamentary accounts in every one of his Annual Reports.  This year’s report again shows Dr Whitehead’s spending to be amongst the lowest of all MPs in Hampshire, and that Dr Whitehead has received no income from consultancies or directorships- keeping a pledge made ten years ago when he was first elected.

Dr Whitehead said:
“It is absolutely right that MPs should be as clear and as transparent as possible about the work we do and how that work is paid for.  That is why I have always published my full accounts and made sure that every household in Southampton Test can get a copy.”
