Engineers working at First Bus in Cheshire have voted to end their strike after winning an improved pay offer from the company.
Amicus members at First Bus have been striking and operating an overtime ban over pay for the last month. Further strike dates had been planned for tomorrow (Friday 9th December) and Monday (12th December). Yesterday they voted to accept the company's latest pay offer.
Amicus Regional Officer, Lawrence Chapple-Gill, said:
"Our members have voted to accept the company offer but it certainly wasn't an overwhelming result.
"I have told First Bus that issues remain at the company and that our union's strike action has seen a sharp increase in Amicus' membership in the company. I now want more meetings with management over the coming weeks to help resolve the outstanding issues at First Bus."
Members had been striking over low pay relative to other engineers employed in the region. The offer raises the hourly rate to £10.50 for skilled shift engineers at First Bus effective from July 2006.
Amicus members at First Bus in Chester and Wirral first took industrial action on Tuesday 22nd November.
