Amicus concern over Crown (Imperial Home Decor) Pension Scheme

1 December 2005

Amicus is expressing concern over the future of the Imperial Home Decor Pension Scheme. Workers who lost their jobs when the plants in Darwen and Morecambe closed in 2003, are still no nearer to finding out what is happening to their pensions.

The scheme has been registered with the Financial Assistance Scheme, however, former employees are still no nearer to finding out what is actually going to happen with the scheme. Amicus is concerned about length of time being taken to wind up the scheme and for pensions to be made safe.

Trustees of the scheme have taken legal advice and are awaiting a court judgment on the future of the scheme.

Following pressure from former employees and Amicus trustees, the administrators have called a general meeting of ex-employees to address the members concerns.

Amicus North East Lancs Branch Secretary Terry Thompson said:

"Amicus members are very concerned about the lack of progress and are worried about their pensions. They want some answers from the trustees. Former Crown employees are being urged to attend meetings arranged for December 7th, so they can hear about the progress of the winding up of the scheme from the Trustee. They will also have the opportunity to ask questions about the future of the scheme."
