Amicus, the UK's largest private sector union, has reached agreement with the Scottish Printing Employers Federation on the implementation of the new information and consultation regulations.
Under the regulations employers are obliged to set up a structure to inform and consult their workforce over decisions that will affect their conditions of employment.
Steve Sibbald, Amicus National Officer said:"This is good news for print workers and will improve the industrial relations landscape in Scotland. The agreement means that staff will now be properly informed and consulted about issues that affect their jobs. This will be a boast for morale which can only benefit companies as well."
The new agreement will cover dozens of employers including Scotland's biggest printing firm Pillans and Waddies and will cover over 10,000 workers in Scotland.
The agreement will cover areas such as: recruitment, redundancy, threats to employment, retirement, working hours, redeployments, relocation, skill development, flexible working, mergers, new technology, company takeover, turnover, business transfers, health and safety, overtime, equal opportunities, training, production and sales, ways of working and reorganisation.
