Marketers make more money
04 October 2005
The annual Rewards Survey of The Chartered Institute of Marketing (CIM) members, released earlier this month, indicates that marketers make more money – at senior level at least!
This is the twenty-third year for the Rewards Survey, which is jointly conducted by The Chartered Institute of Marketing and Croner Reward.
Key findings reveal that:
- Senior marketers earn up to 9% more than corporate peers
- A third of marketers now receive a bonus equivalent to10% of salary.
Other key findings of the report show that pay increases for marketing professionals averaged 3.0% in the last 12 months and that marketing jobs in the manufacturing sector top the scale.
Commenting on the report, Diane Clare, a Chartered Marketer and Regional Director of The Chartered Institute of Marketing North West & North Wales Region, said, "These are interesting findings at a time when many graduates are deciding which direction their careers should take. Graduates with a non marketing-based degree who wish to embark on a career in marketing can take a Chartered Institute of Marketing post-graduate diploma to enhance their career prospects. Many local colleges are now enrolling for distance learning and evening courses, for a full list visit www.cim-nw.org.uk. Having been a marketing practitioner for five years, although I can’t personally prove that I earn more than my corporate peers, I can confirm that a career in marketing is interesting, diverse, challenging and most of all rewarding."
