Speaking at the event were Labour MP Nick Raynsford, shadow communities spokesman Jacqui Lait and Liberal Democrat housing spokesman Lembit Opik.
Gillian Charlesworth, director of regulation policy, opened the proceedings by setting out the public interest role of RICS and its expertise on all manner of property related matters.

RICS Residential Reception 15 Janaury 2008
On 15 January RICS held a Residential Reception at the Houses of Parliament.
Hosted by Mark Prisk MP, Shadow Minister for Small Business, and member of RICS, the event was attended by 150 guests from across the residential sector.
Approximately 40 Parliamentarians were present and a wide range of issues were discussed ranging from the private rented sector to Home Information Packs.
Sir Bryan Carsberg gave a short speech outlining his independent review of the residential sector.
