Labour Party Conference

  • Fringe event, 26 September – ‘Redefining efficiency’.

Co-hosted by ACCA and the New Economics Foundation (nef) and chaired by David Walker of The Guardian, this lunch-time fringe will examine the direction the Government's efficiency drive is taking, following the Gershon review.

ACCA global council member and senior NHS finance professional Dean Westcott will discuss the challenge of balancing efficiency goals with the needs of patients and staff and how efficiency can be driven through the finance function in the NHS.

ACCA and nef will be joined on the panel by speakers including Chief Secretary to the Treasury, Rt Hon Andy Burnham MP.

  • At an evening reception also on 26 September, we will launch ACCA Championing Learning and Skills: an agenda for England . The manifesto addresses key education policy areas and provides a series of recommendations for how Government, working in partnership with stakeholder organisations, can deliver a learning and skills programme fit for the UK’s educational, social and economic needs.

Issues covered include: financial literacy; lifelong learning; employer-shaped / demand-led qualifications; mobility in education and careers and the Government's response to the Leitch review.
