Forum Brief: Criminal Records Bureau
A package of measures to further improve the performance of the Criminal Records Bureau has been announced by home secretary David Blunkett.
It follows the conclusion of a thorough review into the operation of the CRB by a senior independent team led by Patrick Carter.
Forum Response: Voice UK
Kathryn Stone, director of Voice UK, told ePolitix.com: "We are very pleased to hear the government's commitment to improvement of the CRB as way of further protecting children and vulnerable adults from abuse.
"It is good to see acknowledgment of the current limitations, and action being taken to address these
"Voice UK accepts that no system can ever provide complete security and that CRB checks are only one method in a suite of preventative and supervisory arrangements which employers need to put in to place.
"We look forward to working with government and with other organisations to further improve the protection of vulnerable people from abuse."
