New art comes to Portcullis House

By Robert Midgley
- 21st June 2011

Parliament has opened its doors to Granted Access, an arts and politics project for Portcullis House created in conjunction with Goldsmiths.

Goldsmiths, part of the university of London, launched its new art and politics MA in 2009.

The course prospectus states that it aims to "create a new space for an examination of art as intrinsically political."

The Granted Access project, the work of four MA students, aims to find ways of doing politics using artistic strategies.

The exhibition uses a network of symbols which are used to categorise data gathered.

The display in Portcullis House will be in place over the next six months and features art in the form of images, quotes, statements, inspirations and statistics with contributions from students, local MPs and political activists.
