In the Brown bunker with Ed and Ed
By Ned Simons - 2nd September 2010
As all the Labour leadership candidates scramble to distance themselves from Tony Blair, Ed Balls has denied he was "in the bunker" with Gordon Brown.
In an interview with Jeremy Vine on BBC Radio 2 this afternoon, Balls said he is only closely associated with the former prime minister because he was "more public" in his support on the "big issues" than some others.
"Ed Miliband was working with Brown before I arrived, he was chosen by Brown to write the [2010] manifesto," he said.
Balls insisted he was miles away from Downing Street busying himself in the Department of Children Schools and Families. It was the younger Miliband who was "more in the bunker" with Brown we are told.
